Laboratory Director - LSA Technical Operations

In addition, this position may be eligible for our Management or Sales Incentive Programs as part of your Total Rewards package. **_Find your Voice, Passion, & Purpose_** POSITION SUMMARY This position is accountable for controlling and managing all technical functions for assigned area(s) of responsibility to include management and training of human resources, controlling expenses, budget preparation/monitoring, technical management, management of quality, regulatory and accrediting agency compliance, and instrumentation recommendation and implementation. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Directs personnel actions including recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selection of new staff, salary determinations, training, and personnel evaluations. Develops work goals and objectives for the department in accordance and alignment with company goals; provides leadership, measures and feedback, and motivation for staff achievement of departmental goals. 2. Provides technical support for all sites as applicable, site management of core lab operations, through direction, oversight, goal-setting and consultation that are consistent with laboratory system strategies, goal-setting and budget. Creates, develops and facilitates standardization of technical procedures and processes. Facilitates resolution of technical issues. 3. Coordinates and oversees the department budget and expenditures in conjunction with corporate and division goals and objectives. Effectively manages resource planning, allocation and expenditures to meet materials, labor and expense budgeted parameters. 4. Develops and implements effective technical quality control and quality improvement programs in accordance with the Quality System. Monitors, reports, and continuously improves Key Performance Indicators and performance matrix related to quality and patient care using Six Sigma and Lean. Ensures regulatory and accreditation requirements are met. Facilitates teams as needed. 5. Serves as a resource and communication liaison by facilitating timely and accurate dissemination of information to organization and parent partners. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + Must possess a strong knowledge of laboratory as normally obtained through the completion of bachelor’s degree. + Must be qualified as a technical supervisor OR as a general supervisor depending on the specific site or discipline, as defined under CLIA ’88 regulations. + Credentials as a medical technologist, medical laboratory scientist, or the equivalent, issued by a nationally recognized credentialing body such as ASCP, AMT, or AAB is required. + Must have at least six years of experience in assigned field and at least four years within technical specialty. + Effective leadership skills are required with at least two years of management level responsibility. + A significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures of different software programs is required. + Oral/written communication skills, analytical/strategic skills. + Must possess the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. + Must posses a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
