Job Description Essential Job Functions + Analyze all types of samples in wastewater, sludge, industrial waste, and others. + Conduct and assist with a variety of chemical and biological tests. + Prepare and standardize laboratory reagents, calibrate laboratory and field instruments, and perform basic mathematical calculations. + Analize parameters including but not limited to pH, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, total percent solids, biochemical oxygen demand, fecal coliform, nitrite, nitrate, and total residual chorine. + Operate a variety of laboratory and field equipment. + Maintain laboratory equipment and materials. + Maintain laboratory records and help prepare reports. + Assure work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures. + Perform cleanup and housekeeping tasks for work area, tools, and equipment. + Perform duties as assigned and any related tasks needed. Essential Job Requirements + Ability to work in various positions which require standing, walking, sitting, and bending. + Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds with assistance. + Must be able to use small tools to perform tests and maintain equipment. + Basic knowledge of laboratory safety, equipment, and materials. + Good reading, writing, and verbal communication skills and strong math and science skills. + The ability to carry over verbal and written instructions. + Must be able to work both individually and in small teams.
