Job OverviewThe University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for the Laboratory Manager position in the Biology Department. This position will report to the Biology Department Chair and will supervise a team of two laboratory associates. This is a full-time position.
The Laboratory Manager oversees a team of two laboratory associates that set up laboratories for courses in Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, freshman and sophomore majors-level Biology, and Biology for Allied Health. This full-time, year-round position is responsible for overseeing approximately 70 laboratory sections during the fall semester, 40 sections in the spring, and 10 sections in the summer. The Lab Manager ensures that equipment and supplies for teaching laboratories and research labs are maintained. In addition, the Lab Manager is responsible for record keeping and compliance with all necessary health and safety regulations and works closely with the Department Chair to prepare and implement a laboratory budget.
The ability to work some irregular hours, including occasional late afternoon, evening, and weekend hours may be needed. The selected candidate will have a commitment to student learning at a diverse, open-access college. This position requires proficiency in English and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and students in a fast-paced environment. This position is not eligible for visa or green card sponsorship.
Required Experience Three (3) years of experience in an academic or industry laboratory environment in the field of biology and/or chemistry. At least one (1) of the three years of experience must be related to the field of Microbiology. Additional Qualifications Considered Candidates with a Masters, PhD, MD, or other healthcare-related degree will also be considered. Previous supervisory experience in a laboratory setting at the college level. Experience in the preparation and maintenance of teaching laboratories. Experience in molecular biology.
