Laboratory Manager - Madison Hospital Clinical Lab - FT - 1st Shift

Manages multiple laboratory sections with responsibility for quality and quantity of work, procedures and methods, costs and personnel.  Responsible for selection of proper staff and training and competency.  Responsibilities may include several lab disciplines and/or lab programs and/or the assistance and support of HHS affiliate labs.  Responsibilities include all accreditation requirements. 


Education: BS degree with certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency, i.e., ASCP, AMT or AAB within 6 months of hire.  Recertification is required every 3 years if certification was obtained on 1/1/2004 or after.  Certification does not expire for individuals certified prior to 1/1/2004.

Experience: Four or more years’ experience in the lab section/shift and minimum of two years’ experience successfully managing a laboratory section strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.  Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information.  Absolute integrity and accuracy in the identification and reporting of number and names required.  Must have the ability to make decisions concerning resources, technical problems, or other needs of the department with minimal direction. Must be able to use discretional judgment in planning work, assessing results, solving problems, and taking or recommending action.
