The Laboratory Operations Supervisor be an integral member of HDB’s Operations team. He/she will assist with facilities and laboratory operations, BU specific environmental health/safety, oversee inventory, assist with receiving/invoicing of goods, and oversee and manage junior staff.
Responsibilities Function as a point-of-contact for laboratory personnel; respond to requests and issues, and act as a line of communication between Administrative and Scientific personnel.Equipment Upkeep - Arrange lab equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and perform routine maintenance with 3rd party vendors as needed. Troubleshoot and perform light equipment repair. Arrange for on-site repairs of equipment. Manage all company fixed assets, ensuring registry is up to date and accurate. Manage service contracts for lab equipment.Assist in obtaining quotes, preparing purchase orders, placing orders, following up with vendors for laboratory, office and facilities equipment and fixed assets.Chemical and Biological Storage - Ensure hazardous and biohazardous materials are correctly handled and stored.Lab Upkeep - Support upkeep of common lab areas.Shipping and Receiving - Provide back-up support to ensure shipments are received, processed, and recipients notified utilizing per SOP’s. Ensure unclaimed packages are properly stored.Oversee common inventory, insuring inventory levels are maintained appropriately, responding to usage changes and preparing for spikes in demand.Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) - provide support to lab staff as it relates to use and storage of hazardous and biohazardous materials and be the first point of contact for any safety issues. Partner with the Vivarium Supervisor to ensure safety is maintained in the vivaria.EHS Policy Compliance – Work closely with supervisor and EH&S Specialist to ensure staff and visitors adhere to EH&S standards.Training and Policies - Support SOP creation and validation. QualificationsExperience / Education
BS Degree in a scientific discipline2 - 5 years’ experience working within a laboratory setting. Experience in a supervisory role desired.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Strong communication skills; display a professional can-do attitudePerform duties with the highest regard for safety and qualityAbility to understand and follow site protocols, policies and proceduresFluency in laboratory safety procedures and regulations, including local fire codes, CalOSHA,/OSHA, GLP, PPE, Chemical Hygiene, and HazMat Business Plan standardsMust be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and have the ability to act independently Excellent self-management/organizational skills; manage workload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, set team priorities and adjust.Highly motivated, enthusiastic, hands on, organized with strong ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environmentStrong process optimization, trouble shooting, and problem solving skillsStrong verbal and written skillsMust be able to lift up to 50lbs maximumFully computer literate with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions. Anticipated salary range: $72,809 - $94,765
