LABORATORY PROCESSING TECHNICIAN - FT
This is for a full-time processing technician in the clinical laboratory. The hours may vary slightly due to staffing constraints and workload, with weekend and holiday rotation required. Weekend hours are 6:00 to 2:30 pm.
SUMMARY
Perform laboratory specimen processing consisting of receiving, sorting, assessing, and distributing specimens of blood, urine, stool and other biological fluids. Performs moderately complexity lab testing as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelor's or associate degree in laboratory science preferred, but not required.
High school diploma or the equivalent required.
Recent training and experience in laboratory technology strongly preferred.
Must be able to communicate and effectively exchange information with laboratory staff, nursing staff, physicians, physician office staff, patients, patient’s families, other customers, and guests.
Requires judgment including prioritizing tasks according to medical urgency, efficiency, and good guest relations skills.
Stroke education is required. Refer to Administrative Policy A-148 for specific education requirements.
