Laboratory Research Technician II

The Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is a world-renowned center for excellence in transplantation research and clinical care.

We are seeking a Laboratory Research Technician to join Dr. Turnquist and his team. The applicant should be a highly motivated, highly organized person who can work both independently and as part of a team. The Research Technician will partner with the laboratory principal investigator and other lab members to coordinate and complete cellular and molecular immunological studies. The successful candidate will have laboratory skills and experience in small animal handling, sterile cell culture techniques and molecular skills.

Duties will involve collecting and recording data, preparing common reagents and gross surgical dissections. The individual will also be directly responsible for maintenance of several mouse colonies through coordinating mouse breeding, screening, record keeping, transferring/shipping mice and providing genotyping support to outside organizations. This individual is expected to be an enthusiastic contributor to our research program.

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
