The principal responsibility for this Laboratory Scientist role will be to prepare environmental samples using appropriate extraction techniques and equipment for organic chemistry analysis. This position will act as analyst when needed in the analysis of environmental samples using techniques and instrumentation appropriate for organic chemistry analysis. The position will provide analytical results to clientele so that potentially hazardous situations are detected, monitored, and corrected in order to ensure and protect the public health and quality of the environment. All positions within the MDH Public Health Lab will work to cultivate an inclusive work environment for all, with respect to diversity and equity. **Minimum Qualifications** _To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your_ **_resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed_** _and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held._ + Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or other related sciences + One (1) year of experience conducting laboratory work in an analytical or research program relating to Environmental or Organic Chemistry. **Previous experience below is required to be considered a candidate and will be assessed during the interview process:** + Ability to work independently, including planning, coordinating own work with others, and a strong attention to detail. A related master’s degree may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience. A related PhD may substitute for two (2) years of experience. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience in solid-phase extractions using disks or cartridge. + Experience in liquid-liquid extractions. + Experience in a regulated laboratory environment (USEPA, ISO 17025, FDA, etc.). **Additional Requirements** This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
