The Section Leader is directly responsible to the Laboratory Manager in the daily operation of the department including performance of test procedures, quality control and proficiency testing, reporting of results, equipment maintenance, solving of instrument problems, recognizing abnormal results and ensuring proper quality control for all methods and procedures. The Section Leader is also responsible for the investigation of complaints and concerns with the above and consulting with physicians and/or clinical personnel on issues with specimens or test results and maintaining adequate supply stock.
1. Bachelor's Degree and MT Certification, ASCP or equivalent or Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, MLT certification ASCP or equivalent AND 5 years experience.
2. Knowledge of procedures and principals of medical technology.
3. Knowledge of clinical pathology as it relates to disease processes and patient results.
4. Computer skills preferred.
5. Good communication skills.
The person fulfilling this position with the above qualifications must meet the CLIA requirements for Technical Supervisor, and function as Testing Personnel.
*Individuals without certification who have graduated from an accredited Medical Laboratory Program prior to 2005 will be considered for employment. Individuals without certification who have graduated from an accredited Medical Laboratory Program in 2005 or after will be considered for employment, but must obtain certification within 12 months of hire in order to retain employment. Consideration will be given to individuals without certification who have worked at least five years as an MT/MLS
