Laboratory Solution Specialist
Overview The Laboratory Solution Center serves as the primary contact for customer, clients, and patients of the Fairview laboratory system. LSC Specialists are the first line in providing callers with the necessary information for patient care. The Laboratory Solution Center is a fast-growing department that primarily supports Outreach [outpatient] work from clinics, long term care facilities, and physician offices who contract Fairview laboratories to complete their laboratory testing needs. This position is a fulltime 1.0 opportunity with weekday hours from 9:00am – 5:30pm and weekend hours from 6:00am – 2:30pm. The weekend rotation is every 4th weekend. . Responsibilities Job Description Job Expectations: Call Center: Answer all incoming phone calls with a goal of caller satisfaction. Make outbound phone calls to patients, clients, and performing laboratories. Represents the department in a positive manner on the telephone. Provides prompt, accurate resolution to customer and client requests. Assists mobile phlebotomy team with correct information needed to complete their work Accommodates requests for results from clients Schedules courier services for specimen pickups for clients Deescalate issues that callers may have. Additional Department Tasks: Exhibit the ability to multitask, prioritize, organize, critically think, and make decisions. Receive payments for client accounts. Schedule patient appointments for limited clients Register patients and places orders in our Electronic Health Record system. Functions efficiently in several computer programs simultaneously. Performs routine office procedures such as maintains files, operates fax machines, obtain patient billing information, and sort and distribute mail. Communicates with system lab staff and customers as needed. Create and send out test kits to patients as needed. Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. Complies and promotes laboratory safety and infection control policies to ensure a safe work environment. Reviews, follows, and understands established laboratory quality assurance and procedures. Participates in the overall operations of the department. Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements. Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education High School graduate or equivalent. Preferred Experience Healthcare industry experience. Customer service industry experience. License/Certification/Registration CMA/MA Additional Requirements Current knowledge of or ability to learn medical terminology. Computer literacy. Applicants must be proficient at typing quickly and accurately to enter customer data or take notes, as well as send emails. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills such as active listening, empathy, and effective communication.
