Discover a rewarding career at AJH, where you can make a meaningful impact within a close-knit community while advancing your professional growth within a thriving healthcare system._ **_Are you ready to become a part of our dynamic Laboratory team?_** ***Focus will be Blood Bank*** Responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Fulfills the job duties and responsibilities of the Medical Technologist for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities. + Supervises Testing Performance. + Ensures that the section utilizes available proficiency testing challenges for reportable tests, when available. + Frequently reviews current CAP, JCAHO, AABB, FDA, and HCFA regulations to ensure that section meets standards. + Systematically reviews documentation to ensure that policy requirements have been adhered to. + Participates both in inspection surveys and outside inspections, as requested by the medical director. + Continually monitors and documents staff performance to ensure that each technical staff member exhibits a high level of competence. + Orients new employees on all applicable procedures, documents same, and continually monitors through blind challenges, observations, and through proficiency testing. + Ensured that Q.C. results are carefully reviewed prior to result release. + Reviews status of section’s budget performance with director. + Maintains appropriate level of daily supplies so as not to run out and require frequent emergency orders. + Works closely with LIS Coordinator. + Notifies department director of all system changes. + Demonstrates thorough knowledge of section’s LIS module and demonstrates ability to maximize its capabilities and make upgrades, when necessary. + The supervisor works closely with the lab supervisory team to ensure that adequate staffing levels and properly trained individuals are able to cover the section at all times. + Demonstrates a high level of professionalism at all times. + Maintains high staff morale. **Scheduled Hours:** 40 hrs/wk, (weekend/holiday when coverage is needed) **Work Shift:** M - F 7a - 3:30p **Education Required:** Bachelor’s or master’s degree is required in medical technology or related biological science. **Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Required:** Registered as a medical technologist (ASCP) or equivalent certification upon hire. New graduates must become certified within 12 months from date of hire. **Required Experience:** A minimum of five years blood bank-specific experience required with a minimum of five years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with physicians and all levels of the organization required.
