Laboratory Technical Specialist, UHS Wilson Medical Center United Health Services is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist to join our WMC Core Lab Services department at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. This position is benefits eligible.

Overview
The Laboratory Technical Specialist has direct responsibilities for the technical operations of their section (Hematology) at Wilson Medical Center, and works cooperatively with the supervisor at Binghamton General Hospital. They oversee and coordinate the daily technical activities of their respective sections, and as needed, function as a technologist. The Technical Specialist is experienced and proficient in department specific theory and procedures, covering Hematology, Coagulation (routine and special testing), Urinalysis, and Body Fluid analysis. They work under the direction of the Core Laboratory Manager, the Administrative Director, and the Medical Director. In addition, they are responsible for oversight of staff training, competency, Quality Control, regulatory adherence, and inspection preparedness.
All duties are performed in a timely manner according to UHS's Laboratory and Departmental Policies and Procedures, New York State Department of Health Regulations, CAP, and Infection Control Policies.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
+ Minimum Required:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (Grandfathered NYS Licensed CLT)
+ Six (6) years of clinical laboratory experience, three (3) years of experience in specialty area
+ Preferred:
+ Specialty certification in specialty area
License/Certification
+ Minimum Required:
+ NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist
+ Preferred:
+ ASCP Specialty Certification
