Laboratory Technician

Temple University's College of Science & Technology is searching for a Laboratory Technician.

Job Summary\:

Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Biology Laboratory Manager and assist in the setup, maintenance and preparations of all technical supplies required for the successful operation of all teaching laboratories in the Biology Department. The Laboratory Technician is an essential member of the laboratory instructional team for courses with a lab component in the Biology Department. Under the leadership of the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Technician is assigned laboratory courses for the semester, and coordinates with their course instructors and lab instructors to prepare for, set up, and break down the weekly labs for those courses. Additional responsibilities include purchasing supplies, preparing reagents/materials, maintaining/deploying equipment, and breakdown/cleanup for all lab sections for these assigned courses. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience\:

Bachelor's degree in science and 6 months of related laboratory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities\:

 Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Ability to interact with a diverse group of students and colleagues.  Basic knowledge of sterile and culture techniques, and media and reagent preparation.  Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.  Ability to understand and build experimental setups.  Ability to setup living and preserved specimen displays.  Basic knowledge of the phylogenetic diversity of organisms.  Familiarity with basic computer software (e.g. Office, Adobe Acrobat  Experience in data collection and analysis, experimental design and analysis  Experience with standard plant and animal laboratory organisms.
