About the roleThe laboratory technician is part of the analytical laboratory service team. He/she is responsible for the maintenance and continuity of analytical, fire assay, wet lab, gravimetric and environmental operations.
Essential Duties Understand the analytical services required by different sectors and departmentsFollow-up with internal customers (geology, metallurgy)Respect, know and promote the company's regulations and policies, particularly in terms of health/safety and the environmentEnsure smooth operation of all activities and compliance with work procedures, with emphasis on the health and safety aspectEnsure that production information registers are properly completedOptimize work in collaboration with colleagues to achieve production and cost objectivesValidate QA/QC and approve resultsPerform gold determination in geological/process ore by fire assayComplete gold analyses by MP-AES (low grade) and gravimetry (high grade)Analyze base metals in process solutions and ores by MP-AESManufacture the various reagents and calibration standards used in the analytical laboratoryAll tasks related to the performance of his/her dutiesTraining & Experience College diploma in analytical chemistry or combination of relevant education and experienceMinimum 5 to 10 years' experience in a mining laboratoryKnowledge of sample preparation process, fire assay, acid digestion, gravimetry and environmentKnowledge of computers and LIMS softwareValid driver's licenseBilingualism, French and EnglishSkills and Competencies Ability to work in a remote location and in a multicultural environmentOrganizational skillsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to adaptWorking Conditions Schedule : 14 days of work followed by 14 days offEleonore Mine site (fly-in, fly-out from Montreal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D'Or and Wemindji)
