Summary

Summary Under supervision receives and processes patients’ specimens (blood, urine, spinal and other fluids) for laboratory testing. Serves as the front line representative of the laboratory. Responsibilities Communicates effectively with members of patient care team and other hospital staff. Maintains patient confidentiality. Continually supports the Mission, Vision and Service Philosophy of LifeBridge Health and the Hospital. Communicates openly and honestly on all issues related to operations. Accurately and completely documents patient demographic information where required by departmental policies and procedures.   Assumes primary responsibility for the quality assurance of every specimen received and handled in the laboratory. Insures accurate identification of each specimen received in the laboratory. Verifies the integrity of each specimen received in the laboratory and documents discrepancies. Completes occurrence reports completely when required. Insures required volume is received for all specimens, communicates and documents discrepancies.
