Histology Technician

 

Responsibilities

Perform diversified laboratory procedures and operations.

Recognition of gross organsInterpretation and application of medical terminologyOperation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentsPreparation of study materials, solutions and stains as neededMaintain and organize forms and suppliesPerform necropsy operations which include prosection, bone marrow smears, organ weighing, tissue checking, snap freezing tissues and identifying gross lesionsNecropsy clean-up and sanitizingPerform histologic procedures pertaining to preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic analysis/evaluationTrimming tissue specimens of rodents and non-rodentsEmbedding and proper orientation of tissue specimensMicrotomy of tissue blocks and possible frozen sectionsRoutine Hematoxylin & Eosin staining proceduresCover slippingInventory, packaging, storage, and shipping of study specimens Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Vocational or Technical Training, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Anatomy, or related field.Basic knowledge of laboratory/research techniques, equipment, and terminology, or additional relevant experience.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
