Job Description The Laboratory Technician I performs laboratory analytical tests on raw materials and finished products following the established parameters (AbbVie policies, FDA, cGMP) and applicable regulations without impact to the manufacturing cycle or the laboratory workflow. This position must comply with all security guidelines, Environmental Health and Safety regulations and current Good Laboratory (cGLP) and Good Manufacturing (cGMP) Practices required by the job functions. Responsibilities + Responsible for performing laboratory analytical tests on the raw materials and finished products following the established parameters (AbbVie policies, FDA, cGMP) and applicable regulations without impact to the manufacturing cycle or the laboratory workflow. + Ensure test and /or analysis are accurately and documented. + Perform preventive maintenance to the laboratory equipments, as applicable. + Prepare presentations, as required, for example Invalid Test Investigation. + Assure that all samples are collected, tested, and authorized according to schedule and following applicable procedures. + Resolve typical technical problems with minimum supervision. + Complete training and certifications on time as established in the training curriculum. + Actively participate in the training of new employees. + Responsible for the coordination and distribution of tasks, when required. + Provide assistance to operations in accordance with environmental management, occupational health and safety (EHS) systems and promote continuous improvement. Comply with all EHS procedures and policies including incident reporting, use of PPE, waste management and disposal, and any other program applicable according to the position duties. Significant Work Activities + Continuous standing for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required. + Routine work with chemicals + Wearing a respirator more than 20% of the workday is required + Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weights of more than 20 lbs/9 kgs on a daily basis is required Qualifications Qualifications + Associate degree in Science required with a major in Chemistry. Bachelor’s degree in science with a major in Chemistry is strongly preferred. + Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques preferred. + Computer knowledge such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, etc. + Must possess and demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under minimal supervision. + Basic verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. + Availability to work the second shift, weekends, overtime and holidays according to business needs.
