One of DuPont's largest facilities is in Luxembourg, where two different products are manufactured. One of them is Typar®, which, with its specific properties, is used, among other things, as a geotextile in the construction of landscapes and infrastructure. The other is Tyvek®, which because of its unique properties is used in the construction industry, medical packaging industry, protective clothing and graphic applications.
The DuPont T&T roll goods business is seeking a Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) to support our Tyvek® Healthcare Packaging and our Tyvek® C&I technical teams in the flash spinning technology as well as in product development and their introduction into the market. The successful candidate will enjoy continuous learning and have the aptitude to carry-out a wide variety of laboratory experimental and characterization tasks. This position will be located in Luxembourg.
The successful candidate will perform hands-on work under the direction of technical Principal Investigators. In this role, the candidate is expected to work independently, and occasionally to design and run their own experiments, compile and analyse data, and share with a broader team.
The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Actively supporting Tyvek® R&D activities by preparing and coordinating analyses of samples through routine and product-specific analytical and material characterization techniques - including seal strength, seal integrity, visual inspection/package peel, IR, DSC, thermal and mechanical analyses, aging studies, filtration studies and other. Apply analysis techniques such as Design-Of-Experiment and other.Performing printing trials and barcode grading assessments.Internal and external sample material coordination including shipment of test material to third party laboratories.Internal printing tests including printing quality and ink adhesion assessment.Operating and servicing the essential lab instrumentation used in analysis as needed.Support validation of new test equipment and perform Gage R&Rs.Write or revise technical procedures for test methods and/or equipment.Manufacturing of Tyvek® packaging and seals by operating a fully automated R&D packaging machine or barsealing equipment.Coordinate the maintenance and calibration of the R&D packaging machine.Preparation of Tyvek® samples with stringent specifications for shipment to various customers or external laboratories.Controlling and documenting inventory, ensuring ensure proper sample material housekeeping and traceability.Support and perform technical investigations to respond to customer inquiries.Participating in all phases of planning execution, data collection, data documentation, analysis of lab experiments, and documentation.Occasionally travel to customers or exhibitions for learning or customer support purposes.Qualifications:
Minimum BAC + 2 years (type BTS, DUT, or Technical Assistant) in Laboratory Technology or Materials Sciences /Testing.Demonstrated safety performance in conducting experiments.Experience in maintaining a laboratory and/or process areas in good working condition and ordering supplies.Flexibility to learn and work with non-standard and custom characterization techniques is required.Must engage in good communication, be motivated, and be a flexible team player.General materials characterization experience and specific knowledge of nonwovens and/or packaging mechanical characterization is desirable.Speak English fluently.
