Job Description

The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Shift & Hours: Position is full time, Wednesday- Sunday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Edison, NJ  are encouraged to apply. ***Training will be Mon-Fri 9am-5pm for a couple of weeks. Compensation:$16.50/hour plus a 10% shift differential on shift. = $18.15/hour  plus benefits

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:Preparation of samples using standard techniquesPerforming chemical analysis using standard techniquesCalculating dataRecording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisorPerforming routine instrument maintenanceResponsible for performing job functions in compliance with EHS and QA standardsResponsible for general housekeeping in his/her work areaAbility to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument specific data systems.

Secondary Duties

Works under close supervision using routine and standard methodsAliquots and weighs samplesWashes glassware

Requirements

Physical Requirements

Lifting and Carrying: Lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds when moving samples and disposing of wastePushing and Pulling: Pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds when moving sample carts and gas tanksBody Positions: Approximately 60% of time standing when analyzing samples, 10% walking when moving about laboratory, and 30% sitting when working at computer, doing paper work, or analyzing samples. Additional Information

Compensation:$16.50/hour plus a 10% shift differential on shift. = $18.15/hour  plus benefits and opportunities for growth within our Edison, NJ laboratory.

Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
