Laboratory Technician - Novi, MI

 

Job Description – Lab Technician  

Reviews LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work  Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when conducting following work:   Performs sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses   Performs some basic testing procedures  Identifies any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling  Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements   Identifies and communicates procedural non conformances to Supervisor  Employs proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabelling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials   Provides general lab support  Provides supervisor/manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays  Adheres to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy  Supports and complies with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program  Participates, when requested in department and health and safety meetings  Participates, when requested in internal and external audits  Keeps work area clean, neat and organized  Maintains training records and relevant qualifications  All other responsibilities as assigned 

 

Required Experience, Education, Certifications 

 

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science field with some applicable analytical experience 

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications 

 

The ability to follow established protocols for analysis and safety.  Comfort working with/around concentrated acids and using required PPE.  Availability for overtime work on evenings and weekends to meet client workload demands.  Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently.  Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.  Willingness to cross-train in other laboratory departments, as needed.  Ability to maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment. 

 

Preferred, but not required: 
 
Preparation of samples using analytical balances, pipettes, chemical exhaust hoods, and laboratory ovens/furnaces.

Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
