Laboratory Technician – Part-time – 11 month contract
Here is an exciting opportunity to join the site R&D team in Ballarat on part time basis (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) in an 11-month contract as a Laboratory Technician.
The Laboratory Technician role provides technical support and verification of the Ballarat site food safety program for raw materials, finished goods, in process and environmental samples, through the application of the Global Quality & Food Safety Chocolate Standards. The role provides technical guidance in food safety risk assessments, guidance in trouble shooting and recommendations to the business on matters regarding microbiology to achieve and ensure the requirements of the Mars Quality principle.

Tertiary qualification in Microbiology or a relevant science majorBasic understanding of HACCP and GMPProblem solving skill and systematic thinkingExcellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as good computer skillsWhat will be your key responsibilities?
Implementation of, and Compliance to, Mars Global Micro-verification and Laboratory Quality Standard, specifically;Apply the Mars Global Microbiological Verification program to Mars Chocolate Australia including assuring the microbiological quality and safety of all products and process from raw materials to finished goods.Physical collection of raw materials samples, in-process samples, hygiene and environment swabbing for analysis. Sample collection is completed within the factory environment and role is expected to adhere to health and safety protocols of the site. Including but not limited to aseptically taking samples taken from tanks, water samples at outdoor locations, swabbing in and around equipment, etc.Conduct microbiological and analytical analysis of raw materials, hygiene, in-process, environmental and finished product according to Mars Global Quality & Food Safety requirements.Action out of specification (OOS) results and provide recommendations to the Laboratory Manager.Maintenance and input into lab process including consumables, budget input, lab and equipment cleaning.What can you expect from Mars?
