About the Position: This position performs a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade or craftwork requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on previous similar assignments. Responsibilities Assists skilled trades or craftsmen by retrieving tools or materials; holds, moves, lifts, or carries items. Cleans equipment and work areas. Digs and grades trenches with hand tools. Fills and levels holes in roadways. Sets forms, mixes and pours concrete. Operates power lawn mower. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LABORER without more than normal supervision. Performed simple manual tasks that require a basic understanding of cleaning, grounds maintenance and lifting procedures; performed routine operator maintenance of hand tools and equipment; safely used industrial cleaners (typically used in households) and basic hand and yard tools and equipment, such as a rake, pitch fork, wheelbarrow, hand-pump sprayer, hand truck, shovel, push lawn mower (manual), hammer, screwdriver, wrench, and pliers; and performed routine work assignments with little or no assistance (e.g., picking up all paper and trash around the work site three times a week) - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Follow Oral Directions Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Ability to Work as a Member of a Team Exerts very heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, running power mowers on grades or pushing heavy wheel barrow loads of concrete, etc. Works outside in all kinds of weather, and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. Equipment, tools, and tasks involved at this level frequently require special care to avoid serious injuries. Work on and around river or lake structures involves hazards of falling and drowning. Work requires continuous standing, walking, and stooping. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years; however, return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. If applicable, returns rights may be negotiated upon selection.
