Make your mark in Facultative Desk The LAC Reinsurance Facultative Desk General Manager is a key strategic leader within AIG’s Latin America and the Caribbean team. Reporting to the CEO, Latin America and the Caribbean, and as a member of the LAC Executive Committee, the LAC Facultative Desk General Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of LAC’s Facultative Desk vision, business plan and operational structure. They will be responsible for the P&L of the operation, continued business development, growth strategies, managing the relationship with regional cedents and Reinsurance brokers, and ensuring that the required standards of governance and controls are established across the operation. Leading a team of 30 employees across Miami and Colombia, the LAC Facultative Desk General Manager will be responsible for driving growth and profitability by writing assumed Facultative reinsurance across Latin America and the Caribbean. They externally lead AIG in the market partnering with brokers, ceding companies, and clients. As a Senior Leader, they will reach across geographical and functional boundaries to create alliances that further the organization’s objectives and market position. Their deep and broad industry knowledge allows you to foresee external conditions and opportunities that could result in transformational growth opportunities for AIG in the future. How you will create an impact Strategic Leadership and Management + Drive leadership through AIG’s values through taking ownership, setting the standard, winning together, being an ally, and doing what’s right. + Analyze market trends, competitive forces, and regulatory changes to capture Facultative Reinsurance opportunities in the LAC region. + Lead strategic initiatives such as expanding footprint, fostering innovation and expand on relationships with our Multinational Network partners. + Overarching accountability for all aspects of Distribution and Operations including managing a team of producing underwriters and back-office teams based in Puerto Rico and Mexico. + Ensure a balance portfolio and mix of business with limited volatility and predictable earnings. Stakeholder Relations + Serve as the primary representative of the company in the Miami market and across the region when it comes to AIG’s accepted reinsurance capabilities. + Represent the company at industry forums and conferences, and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and friendly ceding companies in the region to enhance AIG’s reputation and influence within the insurance sector. + Be an active member of LAC’s Regional Executive Committee. Financial Management and Profitability + Oversee the financial performance of a $130m book of business, ensuring continued double-digit revenue growth, profitability, and effective cost management. + Collaborate with regional CEO and CFO to ensure sound financial planning, accurate forecasting, and compliance with regulatory reporting standards. + Monitor the company’s risk exposure and lead efforts to optimize underwriting performance. Customer Focus and Innovation + Active travel through the region to identify and source business development opportunities and monitor success by ensuring that the regional team follows through with the appropriate resources on those opportunities that meet our business interests. + Foster relationships with brokers, ceding insurance companies and multinational network partners to expand distribution channels and enhance market presence. + Partner with the Personal / Commercial business to drive product / service innovation. Leadership and Talent Development + Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team in Miami and Bogota ensuring alignment with AIG goals, culture and values. + Foster an inclusive, performance-driven work environment that promotes talent development, employee engagement, and accountability. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management + Ensure AIG complies with all industry regulations, legal standards, and corporate governance best practices. + Working with the legal and regulatory teams, stay informed of evolving regulatory requirements and lead initiatives to ensure the operation remains compliant with insurance laws and regulations I the countries the FAC Desk operates. Location + Based in Miami, with travel around the LAC region. Reporting Lines + CEO, Latin American and Caribbean Region. A seasoned and future-oriented leader, with an extensive track record of financial and operational success at the regional leadership level with a business of significant scale + Client leadership: A history of developing client relationships and someone who can represent AIG in building and strengthening our client relationships. + Superior people leader; a relationship developer and team builder; a strong focus on talent and leadership development; someone who attracts and develops high-caliber talent and who builds diverse, high-performing teams. + Significant experience, stature, and credibility in the insurance industry in the region. + An executive who also translates strategies into specific objectives and plans; and someone who understands the growth drivers of the business. + A high-energy, results-oriented, hands-on executive who sets, pursues, and achieves aggressive goals. Someone who tackles problems directly; a strong performance orientation and good attention to detail; excellent operational and cost management skills. + Exceptional ability to represent AIG persuasively and effectively in client meetings, industry presentations, etc. + Fluency in English and Spanish are requirements for the role.
