ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s I-64 Team is seeking a Land Development Team Leader to join our growing Land Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our past and present clients include commercial and residential; industrial; hospitality including amusement parks; municipal and local government; federal agencies including the National Park Service, Army Corps. of Engineers, and Forest Service; and, private interests throughout the eastern United States.

 

Responsibilities

Lead a team including engineering project managers, engineering staff, and CAD operators to meet high performance standards for quality plans, superior financial performance, and employee growthDevelop and/or support development of site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale industrial developments, biotech, institutional, healthcare and residentialResponsible for project financial performance and client relationsPrepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designedAttend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with themSupervise design team activities Manage work and development of junior-level staffManage small, medium and/or large projectsDevelop new project opportunities and manage proposal submissions

Skills and Attributes

Highly Proficient in the following: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office.  ArcGIS skills highly desirableSkills to implement the integrated services approach with collaborative coordination between multiple disciplines within VHB and external project teams. Comprehensive understanding of design, details, and construction drawing preparation including site layout, grading, hardscape, drainage, and planning.Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulationsExperience with green initiative programs and low-impact design (LEED, Envision)Project research and analysis skills, including due diligence and regulatory process mappingStrong, creative engineering skills and ability to adhere to office standardsExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsSelf-motivated, attention to detail, ability to think critically and multitaskExcels at working in a team environment, including hybrid team membersExhibits strong leadership skills and growth potentialDemonstrated business development skills or interest in growing business development skills

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering or related degree11+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projectsPE licensure in Virginia or obtain within 12 monthsAlignment with VHB’s core valuesProficient in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater managementExperience in developing and compiling/producing site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reportsExperience in leading and developing project teams for successful project delivery and employee growthUnderstanding of I-64 and Virginia market
