Land Engineering Team Leaders - 3 Total Positions (2 Survey Technician & 1 Survey Specialist)

LAND ENGINEERING TEAM LEADER - 3 TOTAL POSITIONS — 2 Survey Technician Team Leaders & 1 Survey Specialist Team Leader.

** You can be based ANYWHERE in the STATE of Georgia (GA)!

PLEASE NOTE: 

These are remote positions, however, you will travel 90-100% of the time with significant time spent on job sites…Typically, arriving at the work site on Monday mornings & leaving Thursday afternoons. 

You will receive a company vehicle.

JOB SUMMARY

These positions will be responsible for planning and supporting Land Engineering field survey activities.  Responsibilities will include providing leadership, technical oversight, and performance management to a team of field survey technicians or field survey specialists. 

This position will provide coaching to each member of the team, seeking to develop the employees’ skills for current responsibilities and future opportunities. Hands-on field survey support will periodically be required for special initiatives. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education 

College level degree preferred.  High school diploma required (with vocational / technical education a plus).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Georgia Professional Land Surveyor license preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience with in-depth knowledge of land surveying practices and procedures as it relates to GPC specific surveying requirements preferred. Experience with project management and/or coordination preferred. Survey-related CAD experience a plus. Experience with performance management a plus. Comprehensive knowledge of surveying procedures for a variety of survey types Ability to adhere to schedules of surveying activities for multiple company and contract survey crews. Working knowledge of land surveying, mapping, design, acquisition and construction work processes related to transmission lines, distribution lines and substations. Comprehensive knowledge of the time required to complete various land surveying activities across different parts of the state. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and able to be productive, decisive and efficient in periods of short time constraints and resource limitations. Ability to read and interpret land rights, property maps, construction drawings, and legal documents. Strong leadership skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to lead diverse groups with differing objectives toward a common goal.  Must possess strong organizational skills. Ability to develop and train others.  Proven risk assessment skills and sound judgment/decision making skills are essential.  Must demonstrate excellent collaboration skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to act promptly.  Working knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations – Safety First.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for delivering scheduled work assignment of the field survey team, both GPC and contract personnel for numerous survey jobs occurring concurrently. Collaboration and coordination with Land Engineering Resource Specialist, Land Engineering Coordinators, and Field Survey Technician Team Leaders or Field Survey Specialists to ensure survey requests are completed in a timely manner and adhere to project schedules. Provides leadership to Land Engineering field survey employees. This includes, but is not limited to, performance management, coaching, goal setting, training and employee development.  Utilize project management skills to ensure all assigned survey jobs meet cost and time expectations.  Track project status and communicate schedule exceptions to the team. Significant time in the field/on job sites providing oversight and support.

Team Leader Field Survey Specialists

Provides leadership for a team of 6-8 Fiels Survey Specialists. The Field Survey Specialist is responsible for providing onsite coordination, oversight of contract field survey crews, and quality control and assurance for all field surveying activities in support of the acquisition, design, and construction of Georgia Power facilities. The field survey specialist possesses a high level of land surveying technical skills, expertise, and knowledge.  The survey specialist will work to ensure Land Engineering projects are completed accurately and on schedule.  

Team Leader Survey Technicians 

Provides leadership for a team of 6-8 Survey Technicians. The survey technician position is a non-exempt highly skilled technical member of a field survey crew. Survey Technicians are responsible for performing all survey related field duties, including operating field instruments and data collection devices on land surveying projects.  Typical surveys may include deformation surveys, boundary surveys, topographical surveys, route surveys, and establishing survey control points.

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.  The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).  Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application. Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
