The position is primarily responsible for the care, maintenance and renovation of landscaped areas throughout the park. It also assists with the opening and closing of graves and the maintenance of the graves and mausoleums on occasion as needed per established company policies and practices.

Provide care, maintenance, and renovation of landscaped areas throughout the park by using proper procedures, hand held gardening tools, power tools, and equipment to maintain Rose Hills’ property in an attractive manner at all timesPossess a basic knowledge of plant identification and continually strive to enhance that knowledge to include trees, shrubs, flowers, ground cover and invasive plants (i.e. weeds, thistle, etc.)Possess a basic knowledge of proper horticulture maintenance techniques and apply that knowledge daily to ensure landscape assets are maintained in such a way as to ensure maximum aesthetic value and a neat, orderly appearanceApply fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, etc. as needed using safe application techniques and appropriate personal protective equipment in accordance with any applicable laws and regulationsContinually inspect cemetery grounds to identify landscape program opportunities and deficiencies.  Report observations to park management team for resolutionUnderstand basic irrigation systems from the valve box to the sprinkler head.  Perform minor system adjustments and repairs.  Report larger issues to irrigation teamOperate machinery as required to complete assignments including pick-up trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, skip loaders and specialty equipment such as the Gator mini dump, trenching machine, etc.  Machinery should only be used if specialist is specifically trained and authorized to use it in accordance with all applicable safety policies and proceduresAssist with the opening and closing of cemetery properties (graves, mausoleums, crypts, & niches) by using proper procedures, tools and equipment, and safety regulationsWork independently with a small team to accomplish landscape renovation projects on time and within budgetContinually strive to improve through education and experience.  Maintain a continuous development plan and make steady, ongoing progress toward skill enhancementProject a favorable image of the company to promote its’ goals, and to enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its effortsReport to work on time and maintain standard attendancePerform duties as directed by Management.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience in landscaping, general construction, warehouse, physical laborHigh School Diploma or GED preferredValid CA Driver’s LicenseAbility to use hand tools and EquipmentGood mechanical skill and ability to perform minor adjustments and repairsGood interpersonal skills to relate well with grieving peopleAbility to lift/carry a minimum of 50lbs and up to 100 lbs (sometimes without the assistance of power equipment - pre-employment physical and lift test will be administered).

Compensation:

$20.00/hr - $24.50/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
