LANDSCAPE SUPERVISOR (Year Round) Location: West Point, NY, United StatesDate Posted: Jan 22, 2025 Share: share to e-mail Apply Now Save JobSaved Description Location: West Point, NY Hours: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30p/Some On-Call Rate: $26.00 per hour Great Benefit Package OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES : This position will be a working supervisor who leads their team to maintain grounds within the facility. Supervisor will lead a team of landscape specialist, some who have a disability, to keep the fields and grounds of the West Point Prep Academy in tip top shape. During snow season they will clear sidewalks, walkways, pavers, and steps. Their team will also be responsible for clearing roads and parking lots. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS : + Perform grounds keeping using mowers and hand-powered equipment (Ex. Blowers, 0 turn mowers, and weed whackers). + Use equipment and drive tool cats, backhoe, sanders, and plow vehicles. + Trim shrubs & trees, mulch around shrubs & trees, beds, seeding, sweep walk ways + Prune trees, cut limbs, use chain saw, water & Maintain shrubbery, power wash outdoor areas + Groom field with power groomer, tool cats and use of all grounds power tools + Plow snow- handle call ins during storms, call in workers before storms, set up snow plows and prepare winter equipment before and during storms. Tailgate meetings with workers. + Come to work and supervise workers before a snow storm. + Supervise workers on spreading salt & use of snow blowing equipment. + Keep in contact daily on all issues pertaining to grounds and workers. + Maintain inventories of tools, equipment, and stock + Drive work vehicles to be fixed, inspected, and maintained. Fill small cans with fuel. + Keep all trucks & equipment fueled and ready to go. + Meet with supervisor on day to day issues that may arise. + Meet with vendors & contractors. + Groom field with pull behind tractor/tool cat. + During off & down time you will assist custodial supervisor (reset of barracks, during rain) + Supervise custodial workers when their supervisor is off ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONAL / ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT: + Guide your team while supporting custodial with barracks reset. + Support Custodial inside during inclement weather (rain) with their daily functions. + Drive in inclementweather QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES : + Able to obtain quotes and bids for jobs from vendors. + Strong organization skills with accurate attention to detail ******* + Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi- task + Hands-on experience with network administration. + Able to adapt and work in a fast-paced environment + Sufficient skills to communicate effectively with system users regarding technical and business issues.
