Late News Producer

Ozarks First in Springfield, Missouri is hiring a late newscast producer. We are looking for someone who understands time management and can handle deadline stress. You must have a passion for writing and storytelling. And it’s incredibly important that you are a team player and a collaborator.

The producer builds the rundown, writes news scripts, edits the video, creates graphics, communicates with the team, and times the broadcast. Anyone who wants to be considered for the role must be willing to work 2p-10p.

What is Required:

Take an active role in daily editorial discussionsSelect stories and organize them into a cohesive sequenceClear, concise, conversational writing skillsCopyedit stories and spellcheck graphicsWrite creative headlines and teasesEdits video and soundAdjust a rundown to add breaking newsTime a newscast from our control roomCommunicate effectively with anchors, multi-media journalists, photographers, meteorologists, sports, digital, news managers, production, and engineering staff

Additional Skills:

Fluency in English with strong spelling and grammarWilling to learn our computer systems and programsAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasksFlexibility to work any shift, with some late notice of shift and schedule changes

Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
