LATE NIGHT CHILD CARE WORKER

The Late Night Child Care Worker provides security and support for residential clients during the overnight hours. This position requires a high degree of flexibility in addition to various duties, including documentation of client activity, completion of individualized paperwork and specific responsibilities related to management and upkeep within residential houses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Additional experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred. Valid Georgia or Alabama driver's license required. Must be at least 21 years of age.

JOB DUTIES:

Act immediately to remove all dangers or threats to the welfare of our kid and know the whereabouts of all children in your care. Conduct frequent bed checks of clients in compliance with enforced regulations requiring a minimum of one bed check every 30 minutes. Situations may require bed checks above the minimum as directed by supervision. Bed checks must be done properly and documented accordingly in late night reports. Maintain supervision and control of the milieu. Clients who are awake and out of bed should be directed back to bed as quickly as possible. Special situations may include one to one coverage, cross campus coverage, assisting with elopement searches and apprehension and return of clients to the campus. De-escalate a client in crisis and fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are presenting a threat to themselves or others. Assist with transportation of clients to school or other scheduled events. This may involve situations where the responsibility of transporting clients who have been exhibiting crisis behaviors is necessary. Complete any special requests agreed to by the Late Night Supervisors and Unit Supervisors that pertain to individualized service plans for special needs clients. Immediately notify Late Night Supervisor and/or residential on-call person to emergency and abnormal situations.
