Laundry Manager

SUMMARY

The Laundry Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the care and cleaning of guest and employee laundry, dry cleaning and linen.

This position is not limited to managing laundry services but also extends to supporting and enhancing the overall operations of the housekeeping department when need it.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist the Housekeeping team as needed.Oversee daily laundry operations, including washing, drying, folding, and ironing of linens and terries as well is responsible for the operation of the dry-cleaning services for our guests and associates.Lead and manage a team of laundry, providing training, scheduling, performance evaluations and disciplinary actionsEnsure all linens and garments meet quality standards and are free from stains and damageMaintain Hotel policies and procedures. Manage the administrative functions of the laundry department. Oversee the quality of products received and produced, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and that the department is operating in accordance with OSHA and state safety regulations.Report malfunctioning equipment immediately for prompt repair.Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment with Engineering Department.Conduct regular department meetings with staff to inform them of pertinent information, such as safety in the workplace, hotel events, retraining, and guest/occupancy.Report any service discrepancies to the appropriate manager or supervisor and resolve them where possible. Report any safety or security discrepancies to the appropriate manager or supervisor.Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferably Housekeeping experience.Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.  Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like laundry rooms (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Must be able to lift to 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
