Telecommuting Policy: This position will participate in a hybrid work-from-home option and is based in Denver, Colorado. Students may be required to come onsite to our office located in Downtown Denver at 1800 Larimer Street (as needed).
This internship starts at the end of June 2025 and could last through the end of May 2026.
Position Summary
The clerkship involves working on a variety of matters related to the representation of Xcel Energy before the state and federal courts and administrative agencies, commercial agreements, labor and employment and environmental issues.
Essential Responsibilities
o Research federal and state statutes, regulations and rules and analyze legal issues primarily related to the electric and natural gas industry.
o Draft memoranda summarizing research results and analysis of legal issues.
o Review and draft various types of contracts, pleadings, and discovery
o Assist with filings for federal and state judiciary and regulatory agencies.
o Participate in or support special projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
o Completion of one year (or more) of Law School (either full or part-time equivalent)-must be a current student.
o Ability to follow through on all assignments and deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously and establish priorities.
o Proficient legal research skills
o Strong analytical and writing skills.
o Excellent Communication skills.
Preferred
o Previous work experience
o First quartile in class rank (if class rank is available) and/or a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $25.00 per hour
