The Department works in conjunction with federal, state and local jurisdictions of the criminal justice community to provide for the safety of persons living in or traveling through the State of Iowa. Receive road condition data from other communications centers and enter the information in the computer system for agencies, state and nationwide; receive, transmit and monitor messages from/or between state, county and municipal law enforcement or emergency services through operation of two-way radio, telephone and communication computer system. Obtain confidential criminal records and traffic safety information from the IOWA System for state and local law enforcement officers; elicit from callers the type of assistance needed and notify appropriate enforcement officials or emergency services; maintain contact with investigation officers by monitoring messages to alert other officers of suspected violence against officer involved. Other Information: Ability to pass a physical and psychological evaluation provided by the Department of Public Safety which includes normal hearing with a loss not exceeding a twenty-five decibel average in either ear at 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 cycles, vision corrected to 20/20 and normal speech.
