Position Summary

In this role, the selected candidate will be leading the establishment of data governance roles, policies, processes, and standards that are in line with organizational priorities, and working with Data Stewards in IT and the business to enforce and ensure data is used and maintained properly.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in promoting efficient, accurate records, and effective information/data management throughout the organization.

Must have good interpersonal relationship-building skills & strong written and verbal communication skills.  Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of utility operations is a significant plus.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

The main tasks/responsibilities will include:  

Lead the design of data governance framework and processes to make it easy to find, access, and understand data and solve data quality issues.Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams throughout the organization to evaluate and drive data governance processes.Collaborate with data governance council, business, and data & analytics teams to provide oversight and uncover ongoing data governance opportunities.Identify and define the right strategies to integrate Master Data with other operational systems that leverage the Master data more efficiently and optimally.Mentor and upskill data and analytics teams on data governance.Make sure Data Governance procedures and ensure data integrity across multiple platforms.Instill confidence and consistency in the quality of data.Lead the development of data dashboards to supervise data quality, data lineage, and performance, and identify/resolve issues.Coordinate Data Governance function with broader AES organization.Help to maintain the material master data domain by defining data standards, establishing related business rules and processes, instituting data quality metrics, and supervising master data operations.

Position Requirements

Must have experience building a data governance program de novo.Deep understanding of data governance best practices, tools, processes, and roles.Exceptional communication skillsExtensive experience in data analysis, data profiling, data transformation, and data reconciliation techniques.Hands-on experience with data quality and remediation tasks to interpret data quality issues, data flows, report mappings, and assist in developing the data lineage process.Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across IT and business.Passion for data and how to make it easy to find, understand, and use.Attention to detail and ability to find data quality issues.Ability to influence others to align on data quality resolution solutions.Self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitudeExperience establishing standard data definitions to develop business glossaries of Critical Data Elements (CDEs).Metadata management, master, reference data management, analyzing data models and data sources to develop data dictionaries and data lineage documentation, defining Data Quality (DQ) controls/rules, dimensions & criteria, and documenting data policies.Experience with data governance tools (Atlan and Qualytics preferred).Experience with Enterprise Data Catalog.Experience with Master Data Management and Golden Record identification.Proficient with Data Privacy Program Policies Implementations including Data Use and Data Retention.Lead Privacy Impact Assessment process.
