Laboratory Technical Assistant Lead - Clinical Laboratories

This full-time position supports the Clinical Laboratories departments with contracts and works under the general direction of the Department of Pathology/Laboratory Director, performing duties delegated under CLIA Sect. 493.1445(a).
Key responsibilities include receiving, processing, routing, and storing specimens from all hospital areas. The role provides high-level support across various tasks in the laboratory specimen processing area, leads and orients new employees, and is responsible for designing and implementing training programs. Additionally, the position includes providing in-service for new workflows as needed and collaborating with the Clinical Pathology team to meet department objectives.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Maintain contracts in accordance with compliance standardsMonitor, retrieve, and accurately route specimens, following protocols for Automation Line Operations and manual specimen handling. Troubleshoots the automation line with Clinical Laboratory Scientists.Process electronic orders into LIS and HIS systems, troubleshoot specimen discrepancies, and communicate with providers to clarify test orders.Ensure proper specimen handling, including centrifuging, aliquoting, transporting, and preparing specimens for shipment according to protocol.Contribute to team productivity by adapting to workload changes and cooperating to achieve department goals, correcting errors as needed.Train new employees, oversee LTA workflows, audit processes, and collaborate with departments to ensure accurate test codes and charges.Adhere to safety protocols, comply with regulatory requirements (CAP, CALOSHA), and participate in quality improvement activities.Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
