Retirement Plan Services Technology group builds and maintains the applications and platforms supporting Schwab’s retirement plan business, one of the leading providers of retirement plan services for medium to large-sized companies in the U.S. Our teams deliver high-quality solutions which enable employees of the companies we serve to create secure financial futures. As a Lead Software Engineer in Retirement Plan Services Technology, you will be a technical leader for multiple development teams. You will work across teams to drive them to consistently produce high-quality output by providing guidance and support for all facets of software delivery, including design, development, testing, deployment, tooling, and support. You will serve as a strong, versatile hands-on technical lead to deliver solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

More specifically, in this role you will:

Interpret business requirements and strategies across multiple teams, articulating capabilities, problem statements, and gaps to appropriate audiencesContinually evaluate technology effectiveness and interoperability of complex systems, influencing roadmap and direction of applications and platformsAssist in presenting proposed future state and strategy to business and IT leadersLead major business projects which impact a business unit or entire functionMake decisions that involve more than technical considerations, including the “buy vs. build”, by evaluating both the financial and technical impactWhat you have

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field10+ years of .NET design and development experience3+ years in an enterprise architecture role leading Demonstrated expertise leading projects and developing solutions using object-oriented design, Microsoft SQL Server, SOAP and REST web services, CI/CDA strong knowledge of, and demonstrated expertise in, software design, development, testing, maintenance, and supportStrong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport with and influence team members, peers, and partnersExcellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex technical issues and solutions to peers and partners

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban)Experience with Test Driven Development and automated testing designExperience with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo)Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as PCF, GCP, and AWSFinancial Services industry experience
