About the Team Our Accounting, Treasury, and Financial Reporting teams ensure that our financial statements are complete and accurate. Their responsibilities include timely reporting for historical results, providing accounting insight related to new strategies and offerings, complying with lender, investor and global reporting requirements, assisting the FP&A team with the monthly forecast and annual plan process, and collaborating with partners across the business to support PetSmart’s strategies. About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job SUMMARY This position is responsible for ensuring that purchases of fixed assets are accounted for in accordance with company policies and US GAAP. You will collaborate with multiple teams across the company providing guidance for asset purchases and accounting for projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures fixed assets are complete and accounted for accurately in accordance with capitalization thresholds and company policies Works closely with Enterprise Project Management team to ensure appropriate accounting for projects Reviews purchases to determine appropriate accounting (capital or expense) Prepares monthly journal entries Manages the forecast and provides variance explanations for assigned areas Focuses on departmental process improvements Provides reporting to tax accounting team Performs ad hoc reporting Supports quarterly and annual financial reporting EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting Minimum of 5 years of experience Experience with fixed asset accounting strongly preferred SAP experience preferred Understanding of US GAAP About the Culture At PetSmart, we work hard to create a culture where every associate feels like they truly belong and we celebrate the unique stories, backgrounds, and experiences our associates share.
