Lead Accounting Associate

This Lead Accounting Associate role will focus on a specific line of business and will oversee policy transactions and ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external parties and meeting varying requirements. This role will bring integrity to the accounting process and ensure auditability by producing quality reconciliations. This lead associate will report to department manager and will engage regularly with business partners to research and resolve open items.

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all out of balances are identified at a policy level and aged accordinglyPartner with business area on the identification and resolution of system and/or reconciliation issuesPreparation of monthly reconciliations of policy suspenseAssist management with audit requests and SOX complianceValidate transactions were recorded timely and accurately and support the accounting recorded in the ledgerPrepare and post journal entries, accruals and cash transactions to the ledgerEnsuring deliverables are accurate and timelyIdentify opportunities for efficiencies

The base salary range for this position is $46,000 - 60,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:

1 year of general ledger or bookkeeping experienceUnderstanding of journal entry processing, balance sheet and income statement conceptsKnowledge of the Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, goals and objectives within assigned time limitsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsInsurance industry experience is a plus.

Skills:
Accounts Payable (A-P): Knowledge of an organization's billing requirements; ability to utilize the proper tools and follow accounts payable practices and procedures.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Knowledge of collaborative techniques and approaches; ability to promote a culture of continuous improvement and working together across functions to solve business problems and meet business goals.

Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company.

Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
