National Grid is hiring a  Lead Analyst, Emergency Planning for Massachusetts This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

The Lead Analyst Position will focus on Gas related strategic and tactical analysis to maximize efficiencies while delivering finished projects that help improve emergency preparedness and response. Although the chosen candidate will focus on Gas Emergency Planning analytic projects, it is expected that the candidate will also collaborate across all Emergency Planning teams as well as other stakeholders across the entire business. This role will provide analytical support to ensure program and project commitments are developed, enhanced and/or performed as required. This individual will need to understand key business drivers that impact business performance, including regulatory issues, operational aspects, emergency preparedness and response, customer experience, training and exercise, storm response, compliance, risk, and other topics. 
 

Key Accountabilities Through applied research and best analytic practices, lead gathering and detailed analysis of data and provide findings to enable business decisions and identify opportunities for program enhancement and improvements.  Gather and interpret data, identify trends, and perform statistical analyses.  Utilize data analysis and lead the development of reports and presentations for program enhancement and informed decision making across all levels of the business.  Conduct specific research to develop analytical reports to identify areas of opportunity to support continuous improvement.  Identify opportunities for improvement during real-world events, trainings and exercises and support the development or modification of processes and procedures for remediation.  Lead the development of trend analyses to support enhancement of emergency response procedures.  Identify, recommend and drive strategic and tactical analytic projects to improve overall business readiness across the organization.  Support Emergency Planning activities during actual events at emergency operations centers or local on-scene locations.  Analytic emphasis on Gas related emergency preparedness with additional responsibilities across the entire emergency Planning portfolio.  Assist as needed with all Emergency response consistent with company policy.  Ability to network internally and externally to develop successful, long-lasting, supportive relationships/partnerships with others.  Coordinate with various departments to ensure that business units have needed analytic support to enhance emergency preparedness.  Liaise across the business to ensure that strategic response is embedded within routine business activities, ensuring clear escalation of issues, when necessary.  Ability to be a strong team analytic project leader to drive and deliver team project analysis and results. 

 

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years of Analyst, Utility, or Emergency Planning/Management experience.  Leadership or management experience in emergency management, analysis, or utility experience preferred. .  Strong problem-solving, quantitative and analytical skills.  Proven research capabilities, critical thinking and collaboration skills.  Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data and ability to cogently present results to all levels.  Understands the theory behind emergency management policies and processes and the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working.  Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to create and deliver presentations that effectively communicates the interpretation of complex data analysis to all levels of the organization.  Experience with compliance, risk and other data sets preferred.  Incident Command System experience and certifications preferred.  Analytic or intelligence work within the U.S. military and/or federal or state government, or corporate entity a plus.  Utility emergency response experience a plus.  Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed, and in response to emergencies.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs required. Valid US driver’s license required with driving record that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver Policy.  This is a hybrid role based in MA with occasional travel throughout Massachusetts, New York and other locations.   More Information

Salary - $130,000 - $153,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
