As a Lead Investment Accounting Analyst, you will be responsible for derivatives investments accounting and controls implementation from transactional subledger review/reconciliation through general ledger close and support of financial statement reporting and disclosure on derivative investments, accounts or legal entities and on any/all accounting bases; IFRS, US Statutory, US GAAP. Legal entities may include Insurance companies, non-insurance subsidiaries and affiliates but does not include separate accounts or funds.
What you will do:
Reconciliation control functions:
Execute and maintain detailed derivative reconciliations between subledger and general ledger accounts for derivative investment transactions, identifying variances and investigating root causesUnderstands, documents and reports root cause of reconciling items; proposes, prepares and enters JEs, as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and regulatory standardsCoordinate closely with Settlements, Trading, and Treasury teams to confirm activity, and resolve discrepanciesReview trends in general ledger account balances, understands and documents changes in actual results for investments accountingDevelop and implement subledger process improvements for investment reconciliations to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and enhance accuracyGeneral ledger functions:
Review investment subledger set-up or transaction inputs for accuracy and data integrity; including investments security set-up (SMF), monitoring changes (general ledger codes, ratings, accounting designations, compliance checks), missing or inaccurate fields that alter accountingAs part of financial statement and audit support functions: Ensuring general ledger and financial statement reporting of investments is in compliance with relevant accounting standards and policiesAssist with policy and procedure updates and implementationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting in internal and external financial reportsAssist with or create reports to support other departments’ functions and analysis, such as financial reporting, management, investment and corporate accounting teamsAssist with deliverables to external and internal auditorsSubledger close functions including but not limited to preparation and review of GL feed test files, maintenance and running of close jobs and processes, communicate status of close issues to other teamsTest functionality of subledger updates; assists with maintenance of investments accounting systems (Investment Reporting Database (IRDB) (MS Access Database)/PAM (Investment Subledger))What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics (Accounting preferred) OR Business School Accounting certification with additional 3 years of directly related experience or foreign equivalent of Bachelors or Business School2-4 years experience with a life insurance, financial services, investment company OR CPA firm/company with emphasis in any of the following areas: accounting, investment operations/reconciliation, treasury, GL close, F/S prep and auditingCPA preferred but not requiredWhat will set you apart:

$76,300.00 - $107,800.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
