DuPont is seeking a highly skilled and experienced analytical scientist specializing in trace metal analysis to join our team in Wilmington, DE. The candidate will be expected to work as part of cross-functional teams in support of R&D, Customer Support, Manufacturing, and Quality in a global capacity. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our analytical sciences organization, focusing on the use of quantitative elemental analysis techniques to solve important problems and develop next generation technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Function as the metal analysis Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DuPont Businesses.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various projects and initiatives.Focus on using advanced trace metals analytical techniques (e.g. ICP-OES, ICP-MS) and sample preparation procedures with a variety of digestion and clean-lab techniques to solve analytical problems.Hands-on experience with common Elemental Analysis sample preparation methods such as acid digestion including use of HF and open/closed vessel microwave-assisted digestions. Maintain and troubleshoot complex analytical equipment and use quality control checks to ensure accurate results.Develop, implement, and execute methods for new materials/products.Prepare and maintain high-quality technical documents including analytical test procedures, method development reports, and technical findings.Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a strong safety culture in the laboratory.Lead and mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.Stay updated with the latest advancements in analytical techniques and instrumentation and implement best practices in the laboratory.Participate in the preparation of technical reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.Engage with external partners, including academic institutions and industry collaborators, to drive innovation and enhance analytical capabilities.Fulfill all requirements of group, site, and company safety, ethics, and quality programs.Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related science field with minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in quantitative trace metals analysis and method development.Candidates with an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry or related science field may be considered if they can demonstrate significant industrial experience and expertise in trace metals testing.Preferred Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of atomic analytical spectroscopic principles and techniques, and meticulous sample handling and preparation skills, are critical for this position.Experience in the development and validation of analytical methods and effective technology transfer.Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards in analytical chemistry.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Experience and expertise in one or more of the following is highly valued: XRF, laser-ablation ICP/MS, SEM/EDS, Titration, and Karl Fischer.Experience with additional diverse analytical techniques are also beneficial.Familiarity with cleanroom and clean fume hood protocols.Prior experience with Agilent ICP-MS and ICP-QQQ.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to quickly and effectively build relationships with the global team.Self-motivated, hard-working, and detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment.Join our Talent Community to stay connected with us!
