Lead Category Manager - Engineering Services

Overview: MPC has an opportunity for a Lead Category Manager! This role is open to MPC’s corporate offices in Findlay, OH and San Antonio, TX, along with MPC’s Galveston Bay, Garyville, and Los Angeles Refineries. The Lead Category Manager is responsible for maximizing value delivery and minimizing risk across assigned categories. Responsible for the development and execution of multi-year category strategies in support of leveraging spend, delivering value and ensuring the selection of the most appropriate goods and/or services based on total cost of ownership (TCO). Conduct spend analysis and gather market intelligence to identify and leverage key opportunities that deliver value, optimize supply base and mitigate risk to the business. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including site personnel, internal and external customers to deliver initiatives. Enhance and track KPIs for measuring performance for key suppliers. Communicate and align with stakeholders on an on-going basis regarding progress and status updates on assigned categories. Key Responsibilities: Manage assigned categories to optimize the supply base and deliver maximum value to the business. Actively seek and identify opportunities for value delivery (cost savings, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement) and risk reduction within assigned categories. Conduct market and TCO analysis in support of strategic sourcing initiatives. Develop value proposition for initiatives, supported by market data, relevant business and technical factors. Implement and manage category strategies with focus on the value proposition, commercial agreement execution and administration. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers to ensure service, commercial terms compliance and optimal leverage. Develop and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; to include collaboration with stakeholders to align on category strategies, understand the demand/spend profile of assigned category risks and business requirements, and deliver initiatives. Enhance and track KPIs for measuring performance for key suppliers. Facilitate issue resolution related to supplier performance, as needed. Lead utilization and performance assessments to confirm strategies are effective and strategic suppliers are meeting or exceeding business needs. Continuously communicate with stakeholders on category initiatives and status updates. Understand and support operational and transactional Supply Chain activities such as rate sheet development and PO issuance to ensure alignment with category strategies. Utilize Supply Chain tools, templates and systems, as prescribed by the Supply Chain Function. Identify, support and/or execute continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with modernizes the Supply Chain function. Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelors degree required. Logistics, Marketing, Engineering, Business preferred. + Six (6) or more years of Supply Chain or business relevant experience. Refining or Midstream refining experience is preferred. + Proficiency in SAP, Ariba, Power Advocate, Power BI, Track, Power Apps, Microsoft Office preferred. + Travel of up to 50% Skills: Adaptability, Authentic Communicator, Business Acumen, Category Planning, Continuous Improvement Mindset, Critical Thinking, Customer Engagement, Financial Acumen, Influencing Others, Innovation, Market Research, Results Driven, Stakeholder Management, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Performance Management, Supply Chain Risk Management. **Grade 12-13.
