Chemours is seeking a Lead Business Counsel (LBC) to join our growing Titanium Technologies team. This position will be available at Wilmington, Delaware and report directly to the Deputy General Counsel.

The LBC is responsible for all commercial matters for a business segment of the company, and plays a critical role in the strategy and growth of the business.  As Lead Business Counsel, you will provide legal advice and counsel in support of Chemours’ global business development efforts and commercial transactions. You will be responsible for actively and independently negotiating complex commercial transactions with customers and vendors and partnering with attorneys performing similar functions. You will serve as a focal legal point, bringing together the regulatory, corporate, and finance functions to support commercial deals and provide critical legal support.   

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Implement strategy with, and give counsel to, a global business team in a dynamic environment of continuous transformation to provide high-quality legal advice, pragmatic counsel, and applicable training to the business units, in order to enable business objectives and growth strategies . 

Work with in-house counsel team to manage complex global transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and partnership arrangements. 

Possess an entrepreneur mindset being a creative thinker who initiates and develops alternative solutions to complex matters.

Identify current and emerging business risks and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks.

Manage relationships with outside counsel regarding commercial matters. 

Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to, supply agreements, procurement agreements, distribution agreements, confidentiality agreements and partnerships.

Exercise informed judgment and counsel to the business about ways to simplify and standardize processes to ensure that commercial legal resources are utilized efficiently and targeted to deliver the highest value to the business.

Develop and manage annual commercial legal budget and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.

The following is required for this role:

Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and an active member in good standing of at least one state bar.

5+ years of demonstrated ability in implementing commercial legal strategies and counseling business management teams.

An excellent ability to grasp legal and business issues quickly, balance risks, exercise sound judgment, and provide practical, constructive, and timely counsel.

Demonstrated ability and desire to build strong relationships and work cooperatively with operating divisions, functions, and team members.

Substantial experience working within the chemicals industry or other industrial or heavy manufacturing businesses.

Skilled at leveraging digital tools to provide value for customers.

Pay Range (in local currency):

$150,528.00 - $235,200.00

Chemours Level:

29

Annual Bonus Target:

18%

Factors considered in extending a compensation offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, and alignment with market data. The incentive pay is dependent on business results and individual performance and subject to the terms and conditions of the specific plans.
