Lead Cyber Security Engineer - Endpoint

Overview We are seeking a full-time Lead Cyber Security Engineer (Endpoint) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to Garmin’s information security strategy, programs and best practices including scoping, design and implementation of technical security controls (Firewall, IPS, Proxy Servers, SIEM), threat management, vulnerability management, protection controls, forensic investigation, security event monitoring and incident detection tasks. In addition to designing and anticipating possible security threats and identifying areas of weakness in a network system, this role must respond promptly and effectively to possible breaches of security in the Garmin ecosystem. Essential Functions All Teams: Serve as a trusted advisor to other cybersecurity teams and to Garmin business segments on multiple domains in cybersecurity. Lead the technical implementation and optimization of key security tools, including EDR platforms, email security suites, DNS security solutions, PAM tools, enterprise password management, forensic tools, and threat intelligence platforms. Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to members, and perform a leadership role to improve the overall capabilities of the team. Identify opportunities to enhance tool integrations and workflows through automation and scripting, leveraging APIs provided by security tools. Develop, test, and implement Python scripts to support automation initiatives, ensuring robust and reliable operations. Serve as a technical escalation point for complex security tool management challenges and collaborate with partners to enhance security posture. Participate in project and program planning and maintain accurate status of overall work progress. Identify staff development and training needs and ensure that training, mentoring, and hands-on assistance is available to raise the talent/skill level of staff as appropriate. Design and develop complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance the performance of Garmin’s security systems. Communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes. Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as required. Provide significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities that increase efficiencies and reduce manual processes. Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging security technologies to improve threat detection, prevention, and response. Advise leadership on strategic technology investments to advance cyber security engineering capabilities. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another related field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Excellent academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems Excellent time management and follow-up skills Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics Previous experience working in a team environment Strong scripting skill sin Python or similar Experience working with API's Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
