Lead Database Administrator (DBA Cloud and Datacenter)

In this role, you will be part of a global team, interacting with our customers and vendors in other regions (EMEA, Americas, APAC), Occasional international travel may occur.

 

Role Overview:

As a lead Database Administrator at ASSA ABLOY, you will be tasked with the development, implementation, and refinement of our cloud-based database systems and our datacenter-based database systems. This includes managing both Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the architecture, deployment, and administration of cloud-native databases like Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Manage Instance. Lead the architecture, deployment, and administration of cloud-hosted RDBMS such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. Implement NoSQL databases including MongoDB and Redis. Lead the architecture, deployment, and administration of datacenter-based deployed SQL instances and systems. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance data architecture and ensure its alignment with business requirements. Monitor and optimize database performance and integrity. Design and execute strategies for database backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness. Coordinate the transition of databases from local servers to cloud-based systems. Automate routine database maintenance, performance tuning, and monitoring tasks using scripting and automation tools. Lead the resolution process for complex database problems and devise effective solutions. Document processes and create standard operating procedures (SOPs). Support SDM for Database Services as a SME for cloud and datacenter databases

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience, along with 6-8 years of relevant professional experience. Deep expertise in managing SQL database services running on AlwaysOnCluster, Windows failover cluster and standalone instances. Deep expertise in managing cloud database services across major platforms such as Azure and AWS. Strong proficiency in RDBMS and a good understanding of NoSQL databases. Comprehensive knowledge of database structure, design, modeling, and normalization for existing and new cloud database technologies. Demonstrated ability in enhancing database performance, including query optimization and index tuning. Experience in setting up high availability, disaster recovery, and data replication frameworks. Skilled in scripting (e.g., PowerShell) for automation and monitoring, with experience using tools like SolarWinds. Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and adeptness in managing complex database challenges. Effective communication and teamwork skills, capable of engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders. Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
