**WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
The DB Engineering team sits at the tip of the spear within Nike’s global digital transition. We are looking for a highly skilled engineer in this global organization who will be at the heart of our engineering teams: building solutions to enable relational database platforms as a service, ensuring continuity and performance of databases and empower Nike to deliver highly creative automated solutions.
**WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON**
You will take role and responsibility for engineering efforts for providing Relational Datastore platform for Oracle database technology to align with Nike’s digital strategy which is fast paced in innovation and change. You will turn complex, technical requirements into simple, elegant solutions. Well-defined, modularized solutions are needed to provide security, reliability, observability consistently and re-use such as self-healing monitoring systems, predictive capacity automation. You will produce best-in-class engineering solutions for services, components and enable automation. You will also be responsible to expand existing systems to evolve the overall architecture to support its continued growth and expanding role.
**Responsibilities and duties**
+ Design, Build and Manage database infrastructure to support Nike’s business requirements
+ Provide real-time operational support by responding to support tickets, system alerts and direct customer engagement via Slack, Zoom and Email
+ Patch, upgrade, migrate and retire databases
+ Meet Operating Level Agreements between internal teams
+ Support of audit and compliance functions
+ Provide engineering expertise for assigned projects
+ Continuously improve internal platforms for monitoring and alerting
+ Reactive performance diagnosis and remediation; proactive benchmarking, tuning and adherence to defined metrics
+ Technology prototyping, benchmarking and presenting to stakeholders
+ Automation of routine tasks through one or more programming languages and/or orchestration platforms such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
+ Integration of cloud methodologies for next generation deployment of Oracle database technologies
+ Creates, maintains, improves documentation, i.e. Jira, runbooks, knowledgebase articles, technical specifications
**Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
+ 5+ years of experience in Oracle (12c – 19c)
+ Team player with excellent oral / written communication skills
+ Working knowledge of Linux OS, specifically with regards to database to operating system interactions and configurations
+ Demonstrated scripting knowledge (Python, Shell, etc.)
+ Demonstrated use of orchestration tools in automation projects (Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.)
+ Advanced experience of backup and recovery (RMAN)
+ Advanced experience with Data guard for DR
+ Proficient knowledge of GoldenGate for CDC in Data Warehousing / BI context
+ Proficient experience with RAC for HA
+ Proficient experience deploying database technologies in public clouds (Azure, AWS, etc.)
+ Proficient experience with ASM
+ Advanced knowledge with Monitoring and Alerting frameworks (OEM, Splunk, etc.)
+ Working knowledge of data virtualization techniques
+ Ability to manage triage events, including reactive remediation of performance issues as well as performing proactive maintenance to prevent future performance issues.
+ Ability to implement database security measures as needed - monitoring, auditing, encryption, masking
+ Support of audit and compliance requirements
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work streams and projects with minimal supervision
+ Able to work in a continuous improvement methodology (CI/CD)
+ Ability to work in a distributed team across multiple time zones
+ Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems
