Main Responsibilities
You would work as a technical design engineer involved in Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) tender and project execution phase. Versatile tasks include e.g. compensation system main configuration, electrical system studies, component inquiries and technical discussions with other stakeholders like sales and project management, other engineering experts, component suppliers, customers, and R&D people.
Our main FACTS System products are Utility SVC and STACOM, but we can also support Series Compensation and Synchronous Condenser projects. We are also involved in the development of new products and technologies in the industry.
This position is essential in FACTS design phase. Majority of the costs and other competence related items are fixed already at the System Design phase. The tasks are reasonably demanding, and it requires certain discipline and time control to manage them properly. A familiarization period from 6 to 12 months is expected to gain skills to manage design works independently.
Basic Qualifications / Requirements
Good theoretical skills in electrical systems and power engineering and ability to apply them in practice would be appreciated. You should have analytical and innovative approach in problem solving and ability to manage multivariable systems.
Matching degree would be M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Power Engineering or in Electrical Engineering. Your major could be e.g. Power Electronics, Power System Analysis, Transmission and Distribution Systems, Power Systems and Markets, Renewable Energy, Smart Grids, Alternative Technologies in Power & Energy. These combined with studies e.g. in Automation, Signal Processing, Control Systems or Programming would give a good background for this job.
Preferred knowledge and skills
Following knowledge and skills would help to succeed in this job:
Design experience in HV and MV applications
Understanding power system analysis (e.g. system performance analysis and grid code compliance studies)
Experience in some simulation tools like PSCAD, DigSilent PowerFactory, PSS/E, ATP, ETAP
Good documentation skills
Fluent written and oral skills in English - other language skill is benefit
Other desired characteristics
You would have some benefit if you had the following:
Working experience in project tendering and execution
Understanding compensation systems, FACTS, power electronics, power system controls preferably also real time systems, signal processing, programming
Experience in Matlab/Simulink
Familiar with international, national and customer specific standards for electrical systems
Prioritizing and time management skills, on time delivery
Good communication and presentation skills
