A day in the life as a Lead Developer…
Participate with business partners in the definition of their requirementsDevelop detail design to align with the business requirements: function and process specifications. Assist with technical design, unit test plan (where needed), functional program design, and technical program design (where needed)Working with the team and business colleagues, define KPI’s, data integrity measurements and a data integrity assurance processDevelop a function point analysis estimate of work effort required to complete the business requirements. If this requires technology work outside your technology domain, work with that domain’s estimates in order that the overall estimate encompasses the complete solutionDevelop team work plan working with manager and business input and priorities Determine staff assignmentsProject management: Create and maintain the technology work plan using department approved project management tools; supervise progress; report progress against work plan; log, track and manage the resolution of project issues; frequently review progress with technology managementConstruction: Ensure programs are well-structured, well-documented and written to standards; conduct walkthroughs, review code and/or mappings, review unit tests. Testing: Collaborate with Quality Assurance in the preparation of test environments and execution of system test. Develop system test plan; develop and assist with execution of user acceptance test. Coordinate user service requestsTraining: Participate in the definition and setup of training environments when neededInstallation: Participate in installation of software and execution of conversionPost-installation support: Monitor system and coordinate user service requestsDevelop, measure, communicate and manage user agreed to service levels for data currency, accuracy, and availabilityCollaborate with internal customers to determine the most efficient, cost-effective approach to meet their business requirementsParticipate and/or lead technical design meetings and assist defining system architectureWork with business stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate progressProvide excellent customer service to users of Crate and Barrel system software applicationsWhat you’ll bring to the table…
5+ years of hands-on development experience with I-Series (AS/400) systems using RPGILE and CLP.Strong knowledge of product sourcing interfaces, with emphasis on EDI transaction processing and integrating vendor solutions (e.g., GT Nexus) with core I-Series (AS/400) business systems.Develops and documents technical solutions for Merchandising and Product Sourcing business problems, frequently involving I-Series (AS/400) platforms and data.5+ years leading backend development teams in designing, building, and managing robust system interfaces and services, including RESTful APIs (JSON/XML, versioning) and microservices where appropriate.5+ years of application development experience, including .NET Core and C# for building modern applications on cloud and integrations with core systemsUpholds company coding/design guidelines for overall code quality and implements industry best practices for system and interface security, policies, and versioning (including for APIs).Ability to create estimates for software development based on technical solutions that address business requirements.Experience with Agile/Scrum Development, CI/CD, and TDD methodologies.Strong listening and comprehension for collaboration with business and technology teams.Domain knowledge in retail concepts such as merchandising and item set up is a plus.Familiarity with PIM (Product Information Management) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems or related concepts is also a plus.We’d love to hear from you if you have…
