Our Team

From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence. 

This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.

Your role:

The Lead DevOps Engineer mentor and assist the culture, mindset and implementation of DevSecOps within our Airspace Mobility Solutions division.  This will leverage automated delivery pipelines that enables building our software more efficiently and deploying it automatically across AMS. The core responsibility is to provide technical and transformational leadership to our DevOps teams, assist teams to transform and extend CICD pipelines in our transformational programs and establish and maintain automation and traceability of the deployment of the final product.

This role will interface closely with CI/CD solution leads, architects, software engineering, system engineering and delivery. This person will have to identify existing gaps, to propose improvements and solutions quickly and to coordinate their development and be able to influence stakeholders.

This role requires ability to travel on both sites: Testbeds facilities which is located near Melbourne international Airport (15%) and Thales headquarters in the World Trade Center CBD (85%)

Some key responsibilities include:

Leading our DevSecOps teams across programs and projectsMentoring, coaching and upskilling other engineers by exampleDesigning, implementing and Documenting the CI/CD for our key transformation areas - TopSky (and OneSky Software and System as applicable), OpenSkyDefining and implementing the architecture to support the integration and automation of the deployment of our product on all the target platformsSetting continuous deployment goals and metrics to achieve in order to measure improvement

On day one you will come with:

Minimum 3+ years as Lead DevOps engineer demonstrating clear examples of leadership experienceMinimum 10+ years of overall DevOps experienceSolid understanding of DevSecOps practices and principlesProven experience in designing and Implementing DevOps CICD pipelines (continuous integration, delivery and deployment) using various toolsDemonstrated Experience in setting up, working with and integrating DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, ArtifactoryDemonstrated experience in Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Podman, KubernetesExtensive experience of using UNIX/Linux operating systemsProficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShellStrong knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure (AWS, GCP or Oracle cloud a bonus)Experience on running the workloads on hypervisors such as RHV, VMware, OpenShift on bare-metal.Extensive knowledge of infrastructure as code, observability, monitoring and observability.
