Job Overview This position will serve as Lead Dispatcher within the NASA/White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) dispatch center. The position provides emergency instructions to callers, dispatch emergency services personnel to alarms or other emergency calls and responds to questions related to site operations. Responsible for monitoring customer's security, fire, and other integrated systems. Position verifies alarm system activations and responds in an appropriate manner, adhering to all standards and procedures. This job posting is open only to current employees of the NASA/White Sands Test Facility Fire Department/Dispatch Center. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Lead Dispatcher will assist the assigned Deputy Chief (DC)/Fire Chief with administrative duties within the dispatcher center to include but not limited to: Communicate with Fire Department management as needed to maximize efficiencies and resolves issues. Manage schedules and PTO requests thru the DC and/or Fire Chief. Track and advise of overtime requirements/coverage. Train new dispatch personnel and ensure personnel obtain and/or are current with all applicable licensure/certification requirements. Compile data for various Fire Department reporting requirements. Maintain training requirements for weekly/monthly site-wide tests. Work with JSC, Security, and other NASA departments/personnel on communication and projects affecting the dispatch center. Assist with the interview process/recommendation for hire. Operate a multi-telephone and emergency notification system in the NASA Fire and Emergency Services Dispatch Center of Fire and Security (Law Enforcement) operations. Responsible for all emergency telephone calls and radio communications for the Department as well as Security radio transmissions. Monitors a variety of alarm panels and Security Systems necessary for the protection of personnel and normal, daily operations. Perform various administrative duties as required. Job Requirements Mandatory: High school diploma or equivalent and current employee of NASA/WSTF Dispatch center. Must be certified and current with New Mexico Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification and NCIC (National Crime Information Center) Certification. Obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Ability to pass background checks and/or drug testing as required on the contract.
