Job Title: Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

As a key member of the Capital Projects Department, the Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for providing expertise and technical leadership in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (E&I&C) Engineering along the various phases of design of Mineral Processing Plants, within the context of tendering and executing Capital Projects, ranging from Conceptual Design to the Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Project Closure stages, being responsible for supervising internal and external resources, and accountable for ensuring that E&I&C engineering and project deliverables are in line with contract requirements. The position also holds the responsibility of Leading the Synertrex and Digital Initiatives for WME.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and manage Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control (EIC) disciplines for capital projects, including scope, cost, design, schedule, vendor coordination, installation, and commissioning.Provide Automation and Process Control expertise, enhancing Weir Minerals’ Synertrex platform and acting as Synertrex Champion.Serve as discipline lead engineer in international projects, managing budget, quality, and schedule for EIC disciplines.Select and specify equipment for electrical infrastructure and field instrumentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.Define control philosophies, SCADA configuration, and control functional specifications.Represent WME in customer inquiries related to EIC engineering and lead contractors and suppliers.Support project managers in customer/vendor meetings, risk analysis, HAZOP meetings, and ensure health, safety, and IP policy adherence.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline with extensive experience as a Design, Service, or Maintenance E&I or Automation Engineer.Preferred experience in the Mining Industry, particularly in the design, operation, or maintenance of mineral processing and/or extractive metallurgy plants; candidates from other industries are also considered.Advantageous experience in design engineering within Industrial Facilities Capital Projects Development and beneficial prior experience in control systems architecture, process control software development, and advanced process control strategies.Excellent English language skills required; additional language skills are advantageous.
